"Bad Moods, Dreams, and Happy Accidents"
An unbound book of 25 drawings on ancient paper, all works 16" x 12", ink, acrylic, and pastel, 2014-2015. Selected images.

Bad Moods = a growing awareness of my limitations as human and artist accompanies me as I grow older, as well as worry and wonder about the future. The poison of the political/economic landscape led me to look inwards in a new way.

Dreams = not literally depictions of dreams, but unexpected and shifting imagery - figurative, landscape - that, like dreams, elicits delight at the workings of the imagination.

Happy Accidents = most of the drawings were begun without an image in mind. Often accidents that occurred while drawing suggested a figure or a place. The mess of such a working method can place a drawing on a direct trajectory towards the trash can . . . but then, an image coalesces. Those moments of emergence are a true gift.
